Details

The MAXXIS ASSEGAI has consumed more than two years of development time!
Greg Minnaar’s Signature tyre combines more than 30 years of racing experience of this exceptional downhill racer with MAXXIS’ expert knowledge from more than 50 years of tyre production.

“It was my idea to create a tyre from the best MAXXIS treads. I started in the centre with a combination of Minion DHF and Minion DHR II. The reason for this was that the surface of the DHF rolls well and provides great traction on hardpack, in slippery corners and on wet roots and stones. The DHR II rolls even better and stands aggressive braking.
Then I designed an ‘extra’ knob to give you more support and a constant feeling when you put your bike on the outer knobs during cornering. That’s where my favourite tyre – the HighRoller – comes in. The MAXXIS engineers and I reshaped the HighRoller side knobs to give them pretty much the same properties as the original. Yet, with the support of this extra knob, you have got the ultimate Wingman when you attack flat corners.
Last but not least, I have chosen the same knob height as the Shorty has. The knobs are well supported, which means the elevated tread pattern also finds good traction on forest soils and dry, dusty grounds.”

3C MAXX TERRA

The perfect 3C compound for MAXXIS’ enduro and freeride tyres. This compound stands out for its durability as well as low rolling resistance when riding uphill and best traction when riding downhill.

TUBELESS READY (TR)

Tubeless tyres have many advantages: The ability to run lower air pressures. This improves traction and reduces rolling resistance. There is less chance of flatting since there is no tube. MAXXIS TR tyres can be perfectly mounted with liquid sealants. The bead of this tubeless ready tyre is completely covered with a rubber layer, just like real tubeless tyres. That’s why, tubeless mounting with all rims with standard dimensions can be carried out fast, easily and with little liquid.

EXO+ PROTECTION

The EXO+ construction by MAXXIS combines two of the best puncture protection materials of the Taiwanese manufacturer: SilkShield and EXO. The SilkShield layer runs from bead to bead, the EXO layer runs along the sidewalls. Combined, this creates EXO+ with the following benefits: • 27 % improved tread puncture protection* • 51 % higher sidewall durability* • 28 % more resistance to pinch flats* (* compared to the proven and stable EXO casing) Tyres with EXO+ Protection are built for aggressive trail riding and enduro races. They are also particularly suited for the higher torque and weight of e-mountain bikes.

WIDE TRAIL CASING

MAXXIS’ Wide Trail (WT) construction optimises the tread layout and the tyre shape to match today’s modern wider rims. Traditional tyres are developed for narrow rims. On wide rims, their shape gets too angular, which creates a less than perfect performance. WT tyres are optimised for an inner rim width of 35 mm, yet they also work excellently on all rims with an inner rim width between 30 and 39 mm.
